19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player claimed his initial trophy for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in particular - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former trainer his previous coach.

Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court after spring of the previous year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 different events.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters together, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, including in that event previously this season.

His counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on court had caused commentators to wonder if his ability to compete at the top level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five games to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet saved four early break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
